Simple Pennant Banner

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, I thought I would show you how to make a few decorations. First up is a simple 4th of July themed pennant banner. This banner is so simple, quick, and easy you could do it on the 4th of July. So lets get started!

You will need:

  • bakers twine ( I chose red white and blue striped )
  • white cardstock
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • glue or other adhesive
  • ruler

Step 1: Take your cardstock and draw 2 lines about 1 inch apart.

Step 2 : On the first line mark every 1/2 inch. Then on the second line mark it every inch.

Step 3 : Now, connect all the lines! Basically you are making a template so that most of the pennants will be the same shape, size, and length.

Step 4 : Fold over the edge and begin to cut the triangles, you should be cutting through 2 layers of paper.

Step 5 : After cutting, there should be 2 triangles connected by the fold. The fact that the 2 triangles are connected will come in handy later.

Step 6 : You can continue to cut more triangle things by just folding over the leftover triangles.

Step 7 : Add glue to the inside of the triangles and fold over the bakers twine.

Step 8 : Repeat until the desired length is achieved.

Note : The variations are endless with pennant banners. You could make the pennants larger and put letters on them to make a sign, or you could use different colors of bakers twine and cardstock. Have fun with it and be sure to share your variations with me!
